Frank,
Well, “pup” finally grew into a name…Luciano’s Little Gangster…and we call her Luci (said like Lucy). She is wonderful! She turns 10 weeks old this Monday and weighs in at about 15.5 pounds. At long last she outweighs her cat brothers.

She has happily learned several tricks- sit, come, and shake. “Sit” is pretty much consistent. “Come” can be offset by distractions fairly easily but she’s getting better. “Shake” took a little longer because she is a southpaw. Once we realized she was a lefty, she took right to it. Since we have pond fish, we just keep fish food pellets in our pockets. She looks forward to her treats and loves to perform! The fish like the extra nibbles, too. The cats think it is terrific and spend a great deal of time at night trying to access our pockets. Even our land crab benefits from time to time. Everyone is happy!

Luci is fast becoming a soccer player, too. My daughter, Ann, is an avid player and she and Luci practice in the yard daily. We have gone through two balls so far due to tooth holes, but Luci is pretty aggression about ball possession so it makes it fun. She went on her first harness outing to the soccer fields last week. She was so funny. We walked the track but at each soccer field, Luci would squat down (she doesn’t sit on the ground) and her tail would wildly wiggle, and she’d intently watch the game for several minutes, following the ball with her head. Then she’d move on to the next field and repeat the process. She did this about 6 times. Several people saw this process and they got a really good laugh. It was precious.

We are wondering how she’s going to do on the Easter egg search tomorrow. Should be interesting!
Happy Easter.

— Sue
